Weekly Principal Message - 9 nov 2025

Good afternoon, Gladys West Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and is ready for another great four-day week! Just a reminder that there is no school on Tuesday, November 11 in honor of Veterans Day.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the Veterans within our school community. We appreciate your service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. This week, we are proud to celebrate our Veterans with Military Spirit Week!

Military Spirit Week

  • Monday, November 10 — Space Force & Air Force: Wear BLUE, SILVER, and WHITE

  • Wednesday, November 12 — Army & Marines: Wear GREEN and GOLD for the Navy or RED, WHITE, and BLUE for the Coast Guard

  • Thursday, November 13 — R.E.D. Day: Wear RED to show support for those who are or have been deployed in the military

Attendance Reminder

There are only 10.5 school days left in November! Each day matters, please make sure your child is here and on time every day. Consistent attendance helps your child stay on track and engaged in learning.

PTA Meeting

Join us for our next PTA Meeting on Wednesday, November 12, at 6:30 PM at the Walker-Grant Center (210 Ferdinand Street). We're excited to host at a central downtown location and hope to see many of you there. Come in person or join us online! PTA Meeting Link

Instructional Updates

  • Kindergarten Families: Ask your student to share an example of a symbol that represents the United States. They learned all about U.S. symbols last week and discovered that our country has 50 states. See if they can tell you which one we live in!

  • 5th Grade Families: Students are reading Hatchet. Ask them what makes a story “realistic fiction.” They’re also creating “survival kits”. Ask what items they decided to include!
